DELORIS MAE WEST
Deloris Mae West, 84, of Lexington, MO passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015.
Deloris was born September 27, 1931 in Lexington the daughter of William B. and Anna Mae Radd West.
Deloris was a member of Second Baptist Church of Lexington and an Army Veteran of the Korean War attaining the rank of Corporal in the Women’s Army Corp and was honorably discharged on January 27, 1954. She worked in the custodial department and as a tour guide at the Anderson House in the Battle of Lexington State Park. She was there for 55 years, and in 2012 received the Missouri Outstanding Older Worker Award. In 2001 she received the Missouri Masterpiece Award from the state for the Northern Missouri District, and in 2014 was given an award by the Lexington Tourism Bureau.
Deloris is survived by two brothers: Lawrence Smith and wife, Patricia Lexington and Robert Lee Smith, of Kansas City, MO. Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and step-father, Robert Ballard Smith, and a brother, J. W. West and infant twin brothers.
Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington, Missouri. (660) 259-2245 Burial in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Visitation from 1 until service time on Sunday. Memorials in Deloris’ memory can be made to: CAR (Cancer Assistance Relief).
