Doris “Joan” Adams, 79, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday May 15, 2018 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the Church of Christ, 210 N. 4th St., Odessa, MO, 64076. Burial will be in the Greenton Cemetery. Joan was born on February 3, 1939 in Salem, Arkansas to Sam Orgil and Eva (York) Cochran. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1957 from Salem High School in Salem, AR. On October 19, 1957 she married Johnny W. Adams in Kansas City, MO. Joan retired after 30 years of employment as the manager of The Country Butcher Shop in Oak Grove, MO. She was a member of the Church of Christ and very active within the church. Joan volunteered for 20 plus years for the Community Service Center in Odessa. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Joan enjoyed baking and sewing.
Survivors include Joan’s husband, Johnny Adams of Odessa, MO; a daughter, Lisa Small of Odessa, MO; granddaughter, Courtney Small of Blue Springs, MO and a grandson, Chase Small and wife Krysta of Odessa, MO and four great-grandchildren, Kamden, Kaysen, Cainen and Cruz.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her son, Michael Alan Adams; a sister, Nonda Marie Cochran and a brother, Jack Cochran.
