Helen Jeanne Johnston

Helen Jeanne (Hain) Johnston, 72, of Holden, Missouri formerly of Odessa, MO passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sni Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Memories and condolences for the family may be left at www.ralphojones.com or on our Facebook Page.

Jeanne was born on March 12, 1944 in El Paso, Texas to Lloyd Vern & Betty Jeanne (Greene) Hain. Her step-father Lloyd Boxberger helped raise her. She married Howard Johnston on March 18, 1961 in Miami, Oklahoma. Howard survives of the home. Jeanne worked at Lake City Ammunitions, Acutek and then Wal-Mart in Oak Grove. She loved working with the Boy Scouts. In addition to spending time with family and friends Jeanne enjoyed raising exotic animals and Dobermans. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Survivors include two children Calvin Johnston and wife Ellen of Lenexa, Kansas and Tammy Bray and husband Andy of Odessa, MO; four grandchildren, Ty Johnston and wife Laci of Odessa, Tiara Williams and husband Bobby of Odessa, Janelle Johnston of Prairie Village, KS and Taylor Johnston of Lenexa, KS ; five great grandchildren, Colten and Trever Johnston of Odessa, Chase, Hunter, and Mya Williams of Odessa; three step-great grandchildren, Sarah, James and Preston Shelton; one brother, Dale Boxberger; and one sister, Paulette Boxberger of Tyler, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Boxberger and Ronald Boxberger.
