John G. Mitchell, 72, Odessa, MO. passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 At New Haven Living Center, Odessa, MO. Memorial services for John will be held at 2:00 PM at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, Odessa, MO. on Saturday, January 20th, 2018. Visitation will be held from noon till service time on Saturday, also. Burial at a later date, and memorials may be made to the Odessa Police Department or to the Odessa High School Athletic Department.
John Guard Mitchell was born on March 23, 1945 in Odessa, MO to Joe and Flava Gates Mitchell. He worked as a police officer for the Odessa Police Department for 27 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Heather Berger, Blue Springs, two granddaughters, Jamie Berger and Meagan Appleby. There are two great grandsons, Jace and Jensen. Also surviving is a sister, JoAnn Thompson and husband, Mat, Long Lane, MO. and a nephew, Bobby Joe Thompson, Lebanon, MO. John was preceded in death by his parents.
