Marvin Walter Rechtermann

June 17, 1934 — October 4, 2017

Marvin W. Rechtermann, 83, of Mayview, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, 1907 N. Peach St., Higginsville, MO 64037, with Dr. Greg Fine officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday October 9, 2017 at the church. Burial will be in the Higginsville City Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Higginsville First Baptist Church Building Fund or Kansas City Hospice. Marvin was born on June 17, 1934 in Mayview to Julius F. and Laura (Starkebaum) Rechtermann. In 1952 he graduated from Mayview High School. On July 19, 1963 he married Betty A. Stevens in Butler, MO. Marvin was a farmer most of his life and enjoyed being outdoors. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Higginsville. In his younger years, he enjoyed singing in the Mayview church choir. Marvin loved world history, math, reading, traveling with his family and watching college and professional sports. He especially loved the St. Louis Cardinals, the Kansas City Royals, and the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of the home; two daughters, Karen A. Wagner and husband Brian of Higginsville, MO and Nancy L. Ullah and husband Habib of Raytown, MO; two grandchildren, Brett and Kelsey Wagner of Higginsville, MO; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Valda Wright of Harrisonville, MO and a sister-in-law, Barbara Stevens of Kingfisher, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Wagner; a brother and sister-in-law, Julius and Esther Rechtermann of Norfolk, Nebraska and a brother-in-law Roy Stevens of Kingfisher, Oklahoma.
