Mary Virginia Hobbs, 93, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, December 06, 2016 at the John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Village House at John Knox Care Center, 600 NW Pryor Rd., Lee’s Summit, MO, 64081. Mary was born on January 7, 1923 in Mayview, MO to Upton & Virginia (Benning) Smith. She married V.L. Hobbs on June 1, 1940 and he preceded her in death on August 31, 2004. Mary retired as a Supervisor from Action Products. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mayview, MO where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Odessa VFW Post 5675 Ladies Auxiliary and the BPW.
Survivors include a son, Edward Hobbs and wife Lois of Independence, MO; a granddaughter, Robyn Hunsley and husband Richard of Stockton, MO; a brother, Don Smith of Bradenton, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Smith and three sisters, Lois West, Loretta Green and Jo Ann Manning.
