Opal Pearl (Hale) Barnes, 94, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Sunday January 1, 2017 at home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Odessa Church of Christ, 210 Nth 4th St., Odessa, MO, 64076. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the church. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Opal was born on September 27, 1922 in Beloit, Kansas to Roy & Edna (Cook) Hale. On September 3, 1939 she married James E. Barnes in Ottawa, KS. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1988. Opal was a Homemaker. She was a member of the Odessa Church of Christ. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Opal enjoyed attending bible study, working on her ceramics, painting art and putting puzzles together, reading and listening to country music.
Survivors include two children, Barbara Madsen and husband Charles of Odessa, MO and Clinton Barnes of Blue Springs, MO; eight grandchildren, Brent (Bessie) Madsen, Brian (Brenda) Madsen and Becky (Darin) Ford all of Odessa, MO, Betsy (Brad) MacLaughlin, Independence, MO, Beth Russell, Chuck (Carrie) Barnes, both of Grain Valley, MO, Carey (Noah) Davis of Nixa, MO and Jacey Barnes of Kansas City, MO; seventeen great grandchildren, Thad (Megan) Madsen, Leah Madsen, Brady (Sarah) Madsen, Brendan (Nicole) Madsen, Blake and Madi Ford, Anna, Ellie, and Luke MacLaughlin, Kelsey Russell, Colton, Carter and Cate Barnes, Parker and Marlo Davis and Evan and Archer Penney; one sister, Dorothy Everage of Tacoma, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Opal was preceded in death by one brother, Lynn Hale; and two sisters, Marceile Cochran and Lucille Dick.
