Opal Eugene Kirts

Opal Eugene (Ring) Kirts, 100, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Oak Grove Nursing and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Odessa. Opal was born on April 30, 1917 in rural Odessa, MO to Eugene “Buck” and Bertha Mae (Ayler) Ring. She graduated in 1935 from Odessa High School. Opal worked for the Odessa Garment Factory and upon its closing went to work for the Brand and Pruitt Garment Factory in Kansas City, MO for the next 23 years, until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church on Odessa. Opal was a mother, homemaker, cook and seamstress. Her greatest enjoyment was talking with and about her family, especially her grandchildren. She collected many, many photographs of and from her family along with mementos of trips to visit her family members.
Survivors include four children, Howard Kirts and wife Laverne of Blue Springs, MO, Karen Vaught of Bloomfield, Colorado, Carl Kirts and wife Yuliya of Warrensburg, MO and Linda Kirts of Walla Walla, Washington; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many great great grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Carter of Houston, Texas and Golda Prosser of Rock Hill, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by two children, Eugene Kirts and Otis Kirts; two brothers, Stokely Ring and Hollis Ring; and three sisters, Jewell Ring, Bonnie Ring-Schwartz and a sister in infancy.
