Ruth Daehler

July 12, 1919 — January 23, 2018

Ruth "Blondie" Daehler, 98, of Higginsville, formerly of Mayview, received her angel wings Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville. Funeral service with an Eastern Star service will be Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Walker Nadler Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 South Street, Lexington. Visitation will also be on Sunday at the funeral home from 1:00pm until service time. Interment will be in Lexington Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Preferred Hospice, 601 South 13 Highway, Lexington, MO 64067.

Ruth was born to Ben and Adina Westling Hensevelt in Rockford, Illinois on July 12, 1919. She grew up in Lexington. Blondie married Qunitin Daehler July 1, 1945. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before Quint's death on September 13, 2001. Ruth and Quint operated the Vagabond store north of Mayview for about 40 years.

To say Ruth was "active" was an understatement. She spent countless hours being involved in The Eastern Star, BPW, and Republican Party politics. She worked for an attorney, a judge in the circuit court, and was city clerk for Odessa and for Unity Church in Independence. Blondie volunteered at the Higginsville Senior Center until she gave up driving at 93.

Everyone knew Blondie and that she could be counted on when help was needed.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Lyn Hensevelt and James Hensevelt; three sisters, Grace Tabb, Dorothy Haynie Beal and Ann Roscher. She is survived by one sister, Elizabeth Massey of Pleasant Hill and a total of 15 nieces and nephews.
