Judy Katherine Shelby

October 5, 1938 — October 23, 2018

Judy Katherine Hoeppner Hough Shelby went to her heavenly reward on October 23, 2018. She was born October 5, 1938 to Ralph and Marie Harrison Hoeppner. She grew up in the rural Lexington/Mayview area. She went to a rural school before going to high school in Lexington. Judy married Delbert "Jim" Hough October 26, 1956. They lived in Higginsville where they raised their family. From this union five children were born. They divorced after many years and Judy married James A. Shelby May 24, 1997.

Judy drove a school bus for several years and is remembered fondly by many of the "kids" that rode her bus. She then worked at the Remnant Shop and Clarks Fabrics. Home health care became Judy's next calling. All of Judy's patients loved her for being the kind and caring person she is. After retiring from home health care, Judy couldn't sit still so she decided to have a booth at an antique mall. A few years later she and three other ladies decided to open Silver Fox Antique Mall in Odessa. Even though she sold her share of the business she still had a booth and worked part time at the "Fox". She enjoyed buying and selling antiques and meeting all the people that came in the store. Judy loved her family and enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite pastime in recent years though was going to the boat where she ran into many friends and family.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marie Hoeppner; her brothers, Bennie, Johnnie, Leroy and Crawford; her sister, Margaret Issacson; one grandson, Austin Beck. Survivors include her husband, James, of the home; sister, Linda (Rick) Julien of Richmond; son Greg Hough of Higginsville; daughters, Cindy (Robbie) Cowherd of Higginsville, Lisa Hough of Odessa, Lori (Brian) Beck of Higginsville, Amy (Steve) Lovercamp of Alma; step son, James Shelby Jr. of Independence; sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; with three more on the way. Judy was dearly loved by all who knew her.
