Venita Arlene (Pallette) Matthews, 88, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Arlene was born on April 17, 1929 in Odessa, MO to Jesse Clayton & Gladys (McClure) Pallette. She graduated from Odessa High School. On July 12, 1947 she married Hubert Walter Matthews in Odessa. He preceded her in death. Arlene retired from the R-7 School District after 39 years as a Cook. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Odessa and the Shaw Club. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Arlene enjoyed gardening, cooking, attending music shows, movies and puzzles.
Survivors include three children, Dana Arbogast of Odessa, MO, J.W. Matthews and wife Theresa of Blue Springs, MO and Wanda Wade and husband Barry of Odessa, MO; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; a brother, Jesse “Bud” Pallette of Odessa and a sister, Marie Hill of Odessa, MO and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene was preceded in death by two children, Douglas Hubert Matthews and Kaye Begeman; and two grandchildren, Ryan Kelly and Cara Roberts.
